En dicho evento Anel Townsend ha propuesto una Alianza Multipartidaria en el parlamento argentino para formar una Bancada de Mujeres, que convoque a la sociedad civil y otros Organismos del Estado promoviendo Leyes y Políticas Públicas por la Igualdad de Oportunidades para la mujer.
Townsend participa en la Conferencia como Ponente ¨Mujer, Política y Democracia en Buenos Aires. Donde también participan parlamentarias del Senado y la Cámara de Diputados de la Fundación Argentina. Este evento esta organizado por el Directorio Legislativo de Argentina ( www.directoriolegislativo.org ) y la Liga de Mujeres Por El Sufragio de los EEUU ( www.lwv.org). Es una de las Actividades conmemorativas del 90 Aniversario de la Liga, Que se originó en el Movimiento de Mujeres norteamericanas en Los años 20, para conquistar el Voto Femenino en su País.
Anel, presento la experiencia del Congreso peruano de promover las Leyes con enfoque de género desde 1995 y la Creación de una Mesa de Mujeres Parlamentarias.
El Objetivo es apoyar a las diputadas y senadoras argentinas para establecer una Bancada de Mujeres. En este evento participaron como ponentes la ex Senadora colombiana Cecilia López Montaño.
Liga celebra el 90º Aniversario La vuelta al mundo
WASHINGTON, DC - La Liga de Mujeres Votantes de los EE.UU. está co-patrocinando una serie de eventos con socios valiosos en todo el mundo para celebrar su 90 º Aniversario.
Para el primer evento, previsto para el 09 de agosto y 10 de en Buenos Aires, Argentina, la Liga se ha asociado con la Fundación Directorio Legislativo para discutir la importancia de fortalecer el trabajo de la mujer con el caucus de mujeres electas en la Argentina.
Directorio Legislativo es una organización sin fines de lucro que desde 1999 ha trabajado en la generación, análisis y diseminación de información legislativa de interés público, promover la transparencia y la responsabilidad en la Argentina.
El programa incluye presentaciones por la ex senadora argentina, María Cristina Perceval; ex senadora de Colombia, Cecilia López Montaño, y la ex congresista de Perú, Ana Elena Townsend.
En representación de la Liga de Mujeres Votantes estará Zaida Arguedas, Directora Ejecutiva Adjunta y Directora Principal de Programas de la Democracia Global.
Este evento es un seguimiento a la celebración con éxito de la Mujer en las Américas: Senderos hacia el Poder Político, que se celebró en 2007 y la publicación de 2008: Un balance sobre la mujer en el liderazgo político.
El próximo evento se llevará a cabo en Ganja, Azerbaiyán, el 24 de agosto y 25 con el ex presidente LWVUS Kay Maxwell y el ex miembro de la junta nacional de Xandra Kayden.
Otros eventos está previsto que tengan lugar en Colombia, Brasil y Kenia. La serie concluirá en abril de 2011.
La Liga de Mujeres Votantes, una organización política no partidista, alienta informado y la participación activa en el gobierno, las obras para aumentar la comprensión de las principales cuestiones de política pública, e influye en las políticas públicas mediante la educación y la promoción.
